A few more effective infantry carrier designs

Hey guys,

I see a lot of complaining about people using APCs and such for fillers/initiative sinks. Well, part of the issue is that the TRO infantry carriers were often kind of...well sad. They don't seem to be all that great under modern rules. So I'm offering some designs for CONSTRUCTIVE criticism, and maybe we can see if Tuco, Spork, & company would be up for adding them to the game.

First up...a VTOL troop carrier that's A) armed, and B) can actually carry some troops. Inspired by the Warrior attack VTOLs:

The problem isn't so much with effective APCs as ineffective loading/unloading rules. They are so arcane that, even after years of play, I still don't fully understand them; not to mention the fact that both the APC and infantry are weakened while loading and unloading.

I just pulled a Cobra VTOL and am eager to start paradropping jump infantry onto the battlefield but VTOL APCs are the only semi-decedent option available right now.

There needs to be a rule change (regardless of the init sink problem) that, at the least, allows APC firing ports to boost APC damage while infantry are embarked, and allows infantry to fire on the turn they unload (there was a reason everyone hated getting off the plane in X-Com and I see no reason to promote that as a rule, our love of Saving Private Ryan's Normandy scene be damned).
