I have played several Factory Raids as the attacker. The defender has mines. I have noticed that defenders are placing 20-30 minefields at the same hex.
My question is about the limit of minefields that can be deployed per hex.
In the section Rules and announcements, there is a post Special rule reminders.
viewtopic.php?f=8&t=3538
It says:
2) Conventional minefields may only use 5 mines per hex. This only pertains to mines assigned by the OP, not to special munitions like thunder.
I am not talking about Thunder ammo (which is limited to LRM5) but to mines assigned by the operation. It is the case included in that post.
I did not find anything different in the forum (it may exist, but I couldn't find it).
When I played my first factory raid I expected a maximum of 5 ponts of damage in legs (on 7+ when entering the hex). 25-30 is a big difference and it is focused in two locations.
I think it would be necessary to clarify this in the description of the operation (if it is different to this rule or to let people know the limit).
Is there a limit to the number of mines per hex for this operation?
is there a limit to conventional minefields in Factory raid?

Re: is there a limit to conventional minefields in Factory raid?
5 mines per hex is a special rule ("here be a compilation of things which are allowed by code, but that you are not (temporarily) supposed to use").
According to "Tactical Operations" page 208. The maximum density of minefields is 30.
Quote:
"Finally, players can increase the density rating of a minefield
by laying mines through the use of bombs, LRMs and so on (see
Weapon-Delivered Minefields, p. 210). For example, a 15-point
minefield laid into a 10-point minefield hex becomes a 25-point
density minefield. No minefield can be greater than a 30-point
density in any hex, however."

Re: is there a limit to conventional minefields in Factory raid?
I know that it is possible in BT. The special rules that are in the post are rules that we have been using here for years. If we are not using that rule, it would be good to say that in the OP explanation. Otherwise I think it is valid. That is the reason why I was surprised. I did not complain about the other players. It is OK for me, just pointing the issue.

Official Moderator Reply: This special rule is still in effect. When laying conventional minefields the limit is 5.
I will discuss this with Jackal when he gets back from his temporary absence and we will reevaluate minefields. For now, though, the limit stands.
Moderator Request: If you know minefields are being used please remind your opponent of the rule while still in the lobby and if need be point them to the special rules post and this post. Thank you.
