Placing mekwars on Steam?

Post by obese pigeon »

So a player mentioned in chat about getting this game onto Steam. I thought, hey, not a bad idea!

Since there are a lot of free games on steam, i did a bit of googling:

https://www.quora.com/Is-there-a-way-to ... m-the-game

and the actual link itself

https://store.steampowered.com/sub/163632/

Cost is about US$100. I can contribute some of that if the admins are keen.

I'm also willing to contribute time and service to this project if needed.

Interesting. I don't know if it would fly with the fact that the IP is owned by somebody else. I think a reading of the Steam TOS would be required. Perhaps even asking Topps/Catalyst/Microsoft what they thought. By placing it on Steam it would theoretically compete with for profit Btech games, even if this is free.

IF we found it was possible, I'd pony up too. The cost isn't the barrier if legally it can be done. The other concern would be making sure the place is up and administered enough to be accepted by Steam. They won't want stuff that can't stay up and working long term. That sort of commitment is on Spork really.

I rarely have time to play and the few times I've been on, I don't see anyone to play. A Zombie account or two, but no players. Been a while though.

Perhaps it is worth looking into. It might draw enough players to make worthwhile.
