Terrain types

Post by Nastyogre »

The last of the big topics to cover that we haven't already started is terrain.

What I would like to see is looking at Long John Peter's terrain types and do a short summary of what you find with that map type. Hills, trees, buildings, water etc.
Does it have a big hill or volcano etc.

This would allow users to have some idea what they are going to get when they attack a world with light woods, volcanic ledges and a desert oasis as terrain options.

This is about 25 types or so, it will be a pretty big page.

We could link out a page on the terrain types themselves as well. Light woods, ice, etc.
I don't think we want anything too detailed, just a short description and game effect.

Once we have this done we can think about what more we want to do.

See here http://www.mekwars.org/mediawiki-1.20.2 ... hp/Terrain

and here http://www.mekwars.org/mediawiki-1.20.2 ... p/Terrains

They are crosslinked and the Terrain Map type contains a link the LJP's Atlas.

Great work Ogre!

I added a definition for "water" and elaborated on frozen water a bit.

P.S. I can't recall if there is a 2-in-6 or 3-in-6 chance of breaking through ice if you jump onto ice. I do recall it's an elevated probability. Anyone happen to know?

1 in 6.

There is an option rule for weight of unit IIRC but it is not used.

4+ on 1d6.

Walking and running is 6 on 1d6.

That's right different for walking/running vs jumping. Bad ogre for not looking it up.

Updated the frozen water description to say 1-in-6 chance of breaking through for walking/running, 3-in-6 for jumping.
