Wiki progress

OK, so I've been messing around a little bit to make sure things are working, and they appear to be.

I've ported over the main page, which even on its own shows a large number of dead links that need to be recreated.

I've also brought in the rules, and a page on current staff, and created a personal page.

Feel free to create your own personal pages - it helps you get used to wiki markup, and also will let the playerbase know who to talk to regarding wiki problems.

Great work. Klingon has added some info on mechanisms.

When we are pulling in old info or info that was in the forums we do want to look at it and see if we think we should edit/update/clarify/re-organize information.

Please do this as you can. If you might not get the chance, ask a wikiteam member to do so.
If you are on the wikiteam and haven't tackeled an article topic yet, a good starting point would be to look at the operations, manifesto, and special rules and consider if any need more detail or clarification. We aren't looking to change the rules, but if we can make what is written already more easily understood.

With operations, I think perhaps we want to create a "template" to use. Then we simply plug in the information on each op. Think of a chart or job aid you might use. That would make it easy to organize and use.

I agree, I think a great place to do that would be on the Operation page with links to the pages I'm generating from there (I've got an example going with the strategic and militia Hit'n'Runs).

I was thinking of only leaving in things that are general descriptions of the op (rather than specific numbers), and are very unlikely to change (i.e. going from a small land exchange to a large one, or going from only fast units to only slow units).

Added in a link from "bv spread" to the MekWars mechanisms page, which explains it. Next plan is to copy and paste into a word processor, and find and replace all instances with the linking code, now that I know that it works.

Okay, done. The pitfall I ran into, was when I found for "bv spread" it found the "bv spread" in the code for the link I just inserted. I got around that by searching for "_bv_spread_" with spaces before and after, and added spaces before and after the code for the link, so it only found the uncoded "bv spread"s.

Added a privacy policy and general disclaimer, as well as modifying a couple pages to get them off the "dead-end pages" report.

Will the wiki team get the info on the changes to the cycle for the pages we are currently developing before the new cycle?
I'm not fishing for info, it would be cool if we could start the cycle and make the wiki live at the same time with accurate info.

I think we are relatively close actually and that it is a reasonable goal to shoot for.

I'm a bit less busy with work that I have been the last 10 days or so. I'm going to tackle the terrain guides this weekend.

I'm simply too behind with learning what I need to learn and figuring out what to change to provide things much in advance. I promise I'll make ops etc available as soon as they're finalised, but basically I have to figure them out myself first.

The map types is a giant wall of text. I suppose we could group them by type (Desert, Forest, Plains, Ice, Urban etc) but the are most easily found in alphabetical order.

Got the subfactions article http://www.mekwars.org/mediawiki-1.20.2 ... ubfactions ,but it certainly could use some editing to eradicate my personal oppinions(and i'm still struggling to find a way to explain min-maxing wihtout one).
Will be working on the red links there, there are more ofc,but these will have to wait till we get the current list of ops and can get starter guide in detail.
P.S. Sorry for the late start,but i had RL issues taking up like 98% of my time.

Thanks for getting this started. Most of time we just need a start to get something done. I will read it in detail this week and see what it needs for editing.
We will want to link this to a factions page and add info on the merc subfactions.
