Blast from the past and Chromebook or iPad solution?
Hi ho, all. A few of you may remember me from many moons ago (almost always as a pirate on the Periphery) though I haven't been active in the server or the forum for many years. I'd like to get back to playing again but I am currently just using a new Chromebook and an old iPad as my devices. Does anyone have any first-hand experience getting the game to run on either of those platforms? I have started to read up on using Linux on a Chromebook but I'd appreciate hearing from someone who as made it work. Cheers, Matthew (Mole)

Two days and not a peep.... Sadly, it appears that the lights are on but nobody's home, or at least no one is active in this forum anymore.

Maybe no one else is using your setup?
Regardless, welcome back!

Thanks, OP. Let me put my question another way. If I wanted to get a cheap Windows netbook specifically to run the game, what is the minimum configuration (processor type/speed, RAM, storage, Windows version, etc.) I would need? Are there any obvious pitfalls I should avoid such as "X brand no longer supports Java" or something like that? Thanks in advance, Matthew

Well, absent any other advice and since the system requirements for Java JRE 8 seem pretty modest, I ordered myself a $200 refurbished Dell laptop (Latitude E7270 2.3 GHz Core i5/SSD 256 GB/8 GB RAM) that seems like it should get the job done. I hope to be back on the server by this weekend.
