Before any1 shoots off this isnt a whine but a possible solution for dealing with vtols that can be approved or dismissed im just putting it out there.

We all know AA is disabled and personally i believe aa should stay disabled, and im not even a major vtol user, but in general vtols are lightly armored, dont get benefit of terrain\smoke\forest modifiers and can only rely on their speed which the aa greatly outnumbers so here is my proposal.....

We already have flak ammo (ac2, ac5) for shooting vtols (albeit a bit buggy atm) but i would put forward that maybe another type of weapon to counter vtols.

Lrm's have the ability to fire fragmentation ammo.....yes yes i know its good against soft targets only but if it wasnt too much effort to code how would ppl feel about the lrm 5 only having the ability to shoot vtols at a -1 ( 9's to hit instead of 10's ) wit frag lrm ammo using the lrm 5 table for damage done wit a -2 to the missiles hitting target roll ( 11 on lrm5 table now a 9 ).

Ive thought about this carefull, we could POSSIBLY allow 2 vtols per lance with this also and now more variety to hit vtols without the aa having to be turned back on ?

All opinions, altered ideas and death threats welcomed :P

This is a game-engine suggestion, not a campaign suggestion. Moved.

the no comments is simple, i find the idea rather stupid ;)
+ it needs a hell lot of code and does violate BT rules.
im all for AA.

VTOLs can use the Terrain for Defensive Advantage, they just need to change elevation to suit. (They can descend into Heavy smoke behind Heavy Woods for example)

imho (and a lover of VTOLs) I like the idea of Flak when the little bugs are ironed out. With AA gone there is a requirement for a valid defence Vs VTOLs. (Though most people I see are their own enemy when using VTOLs)

Though I agree with other posters in that any rule addition for MegaMek should be base from an Official Text..somewhere...out there.
